All In For Autism 5K - 2024 - TEAM VIOLET JUNE

Please join Violet and our family in helping to raise awareness and funds to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families, and caregivers with the ultimate goal of raising their quality of life. Raising a child on the autism spectrum can be an exhausting and lonely roller coaster ride. Many families cannot afford to pay for the services their autistic child’s needs. Funds raised for the All in for Autism 5K Run/Walk will benefit Kindering and other autism-related organizations.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with ASD, affecting thousands of families.

Violet's Story...

Violet began early intervention services with Kindering at age 2. Violet had been developing speech at a typical pace, but at 18 months we experienced severe regression to the point of her being non-verbal by her 2nd birthday. She lost most of her words within a 6-7 month time span.

We were so fortunate to find Kindering and were able to proactively provide Violet much needed OT, Speech Therapy and Special Education. The amazing team at Kindering supported our entire family and guided us in the early stages of our journey.

Violet was diagnosed by a Pediatric Neurologist at UW with Autism prior to her 3rd birthday. We are incredibly grateful to the early intervention as it propelled us to get an early diagnosis which in turn opened up doors to services and support, including Speech, Special Education, OT and ABA Therapy.

Violet is now 5 and thriving. She is now speaking and even able to string 2-3 words together. Her meltdowns have calmed as she has strengthened her communication skills which have helped to mitigate her frustration. We are better able to meet her needs. She can better express herself and share MORE of who she is with the world. We are so proud of Violet.

Our hope for this walk/ run is to help support an organization that aims to provide access to Autism support for all kids/ families. Our family is grateful for the love and support we have received on our journey and hope that others within our community can benefit from this same type of services and support.
