Proceeds

The Greater Omaha Chapter of AFCEA organizes the Steps for STEM 5K Run/Walk event. Funds from this event are used to support the chapter’s continuing STEM Scholarships and STEM Grants program supporting students and teachers in the Omaha Metropolitan area. Past years have helped dozens of students advance in STEM fields as well as provided materials to foster STEM learning in area classrooms. This year we look forward to helping dozens more students and teachers. You can help by taking part in this year's run or making a personal donation to our chapter’s education fund!

Race Awards

All runners/walkers will receive a medal

M2ti partnering with Greater Omaha Chapter to provide awards for top finishers. Top 3 - 5K runners – (Male and Female categories) 1st - Garmin Forerunner 255, 2nd - $150 Sports Store Gift card, and 3rd - $100 Sports Store Gift card.

Awards presented at the culmination of the run near the starting point on Gold Coast Road (Circle)

Volunteers

Volunteers are a welcome necessity for our Steps for STEM 5K

Volunteers should be 13+, but younger youth can possibly help with adult assistance at the water stop, finish line, or with course support.

GOC 5K Run/Walk Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I register my family members?
Yes! You can register multiple people at once, but you will need a unique email address for each person in order for them to receive race emails.

2) If I register for the event, but cannot participate on Race Day, can I receive a refund or transfer my registration to another person?
Unfortunately, all registrations are final and registrations cannot be transferred to another participant. Your registration does count as a donation to the Greater Omaha Chapter Scholarship and STEM Grants program, so we thank you for your generosity! * Please note: This event will happen rain or shine.

3) I have a small child. Can I race with a stroller?
Yes!!! In the spirit of family involvement, strollers are encouraged! We kindly ask participants with strollers to allow other racers to pass safely and stay single file on the course.

4) Will I have to pay for parking?
No, parking will be FREE on race day. In the event there is a need for overflow parking, this will be identified via a page on our event page.

5) What if it rains on race day?
This event will happen rain or shine.

6) Will there be water stops along the course?
Not along the course, but water will be provided at the finish line.

7) How do I get my time?
This race will be timed by Precision Race Results. Runners and followers will be able to review results on www.onlineraceresults.com as soon as they are posted, which should be the afternoon of the race. Runners will also receive a result email that afternoon. Additionally, paper copies of the results will be posted at the race.

8) Can I bring pets to the race?
We know your pets are considered part of the family; however, we ask that you please leave them at home during the event. We ask that you not leave your pets unattended in your vehicles as well due to the danger this poses to their health. Thank you!

9) Will there be sufficient aid and medical assistance on the course?
We take the safety of our participants seriously. Support personnel will be positioned along the course. Plus, a first aid kit will be stationed at the start/finish line. The Papillion fire and rescue unit will be aware of our event and are prepared to respond should a situation arise. However, we ask that you help us out by being prepared for the race, so don’t forget to train!

10) Who puts on this event?
The Greater Omaha Chapter of AFCEA organizes the Steps for STEM 5K Run/Walk event with the help of sponsors and volunteers from the surrounding community. They work hard to provide you with the best experience on race day!

11) How are funds for this event used?
