About the Highland Village Lions Club |
Lions Clubs are about "more volunteers-doing more community work-in more places than any other service club organization in the world." When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve! We are not limited by continents or restricted to certain causes. Lions help wherever, whenever and however we can. Our volunteer projects unite Lions around the world, and our work is unconditional.
As a Lions Club Member, you'll join a local group of service-minded men and women who are volunteering to support your community every day. You'll also become a member of Lions Club International - a respected international organization - a leader in your local community and a friend to people in need.
Your local chapter, the Highland Village Lions Club, is made up of volunteers just like you in our community. We meet the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, at 9:00 AM, at the Duvall Center on Highland Village Road. Our motto is "We want everyone to see a better tomorrow." We have a unique club, in that our principle service project is detecting vision and hearing problems in local pre-school children. We do our screening at children day care facilities around Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village and surrounding cities. We are in our 5th year of screening children for vision and hearing problems, and successfully screened over 4,000 children last year. Proceeds raised through the success of the HV Lions Club Balloon Festival have enabled us to purchase state-of-the-art vision and hearing equipment to detect early warning signs of vision and hearing impairment. In addition our club also supports local boy scouts and girls scout programs.
