Looking to train for a 10K or 10M race this year? Join the Howard County Striders for one of their prestigious training programs! We have decided to combine the Next Step 10K and Next Step 10 Mile programs this year.

The program will be capped at 60 participants.

Training Program Structure

The Next Step 10K/10 Mile Program is for runners of varying abilities. Participants will do a 3-mile time trial at Wilde Lake High School on March 26th so coordinators can group participants with those of similar abilities.

Weekly training runs will involve a variety of running techniques including speed work and hill work to improve running performance.

All runners must be able to run 3 miles before starting the program.

Training Program Location
The program will meet at Wilde Lake High School. Nearby running routes include:
Lake Kittamaqundi
Howard Community College
Wilde Lake neighborhoods
Paths at the beginning of the Bagel Run

Training Program Dates
The program meets on Tuesdays at 6PM starting on March 26th and ending on May 21st with a graduation party.

The Next Step 10K/10 Mile training calendar will specifically prepare you for running the Baltimore 10 on June 1st, as well as a weekly 10k. You will need to register separately for the B-10 if you would like to participate in it.

Pricing
The program fee is $50. The cost covers:
- 10 weekly training sessions with experienced coaches
- Weekly communication with coaches
- Premium with Striders/Next Step logo

We will meet Tuesday nights. We run when it rains, but not when there is lightning or thunder!
