Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon

Race start is in Georgetown, next to Georgetown Lake on the frontage road. The race finishes in Idaho Springs at 12th and Miner St. The post race celebration is in Clear Creek football field.

Registrants are required to choose 1 of the following 3 locations to pick up your bib number and IPICO Sports Timing Tag:

1. Pick up at the Idaho Springs Middle School on race morning between 5:15 - 6:15 AM.

2. Pick up at the Start Line in Georgetown on race morning between 6:00 - 7:00 AM.

3. Pick up at the Buffalo Restaurant and Bar in Idaho Springs on Friday, August 8 between 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to change your packet pick up location choice after August 1.

Beginning Monday July 21, 2008 through Thursday August 7, 2008. Register and pick up your bib number and IPICO Sports Timing Tag at one of these locations:

We strongly encourage all athletes to ride the free bus from Idaho Springs to Georgetown. Arrive early, and expect traffic congestion. Buses will start running at 5:30 am. Board the bus at the Forest Service building next to Clear Creek Middle School. The last bus will leave at 6:45 am. If you miss the bus, your alternative is to drive to Georgetown. Transportation is not provided back to Georgetown after the race.

Parking in Idaho Springs is available at Clear Creek Middle School, in the downtown area, and the town parking lots between 15th/16th and Idaho St. Please look for parking attendants when you exit at the Mt. Evans exit, exit #240. Please do not park in the Forest Service parking lot, vehicles parked here will be towed.

Parking in Georgetown is available only at Georgetown Lake near the start. Please look for parking attendants when you exit the freeway in Georgetown. If you arrive after 6:45 am, anticipate parking at least 1/2 mile from the starting line. At 7:00 am, one hour before the race start, no one will be allowed to turn east down the service road to the starting line. Arrive early!

Race-day registration will take place at Clear Creek Middle School between 5:15 and 6:15 AM, and at the Start Line in Georgetown between 6:00 am and 7:00 am.

All clothing and warm-up gear will be transported from the start line to Clear Creek football field in Idaho Springs by 9:30 am. Bags will be provided at the start line.

The elevation at the start is 8500 feet, and gradually arrives at 7500 feet at the finish. Temperatures in the early morning at this elevation can be 50 degrees, and can reach 85 degrees by the finish. While conditions are usually optimal at this time of year, athletes should always be prepared for adverse weather while being in a mountainous location.

This race will be timed with the IPICO Sports Timing Tag. You must wear the tag on your shoe for the duration of the race to receive full race results. Volunteers will help you remove your tag in the chute at the back of the finish line.

Finisher T-Shirts and goodie bags will be given out at the conclusion of your race, at the post race celebration in the Clear Creek football field. Our unique Gold Pan Trophies will be presented at the awards ceremony to the following age groups: Top 3 Male and Female in ages 19/under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-59, and 70+.
